Local Locksmith FAQs
You have questions? We have answers!
Do I have to change the locks in the home that I just bought to keep other keys from working?
The short answer is NO! You can have a local locksmith change the locking combination (called bitting), so that other keys no longer work. This process is much less expensive and problematic than buying new locks.
If I buy car keys and remotes online will Local Locksmith program them for me and cut the keys?
Yes we will however, you should understand that with a customer provided key, fob or remote, we offer no warranty because we can not control the quality of the parts that we have to work with. In fact, buying an online key, fob or remote can be more costly if it fails and is replaced under manufacturer/distributor warranty because you would have to pay to have the replacement reprogrammed or cut. All of our keys/fobs/remotes come with a 1 year parts and labor warranty. So in the long run, buying from us is less expensive and more reliable.

What is the best lubricant for my locks since we live in a very dusty area?
We recommend Heavy Duty Silicone available from your local Walmart. Silicone is ideal because the propellent blasts away lock dirt and replaces it with a dry light duty lubricant. Any petroleum based lubricant like WD40, will attract dust and dirt that could cause premature lock failure.
